***Timeless Love ( Factual Account In Poetic Rendition )
Walking along the beach, driftwood, shells, all paraphernalia I did find
My heart yearned and the ache in my soul was as old as beginning of time
My dear mate smiled with twinkling blue eyes squinted by the sun
Then grabbed my hand and looked at me and teased me just for fun.
But little did I know, ten years from then destiny would take his hand
In that same spot God swept him away as the ocean did the sand
On that morning he gently kissed my lips and said, "Betty, honey I love you with all my heart"
Never did I dream that with the next day's dawn his life with my Heavenly Father would start.
My only son says, "You two are too old to act like that," pulling him out the door
Not knowing himself our next embrace would be on heaven's shore
Off they went that Good Friday morn, in the Gulf of Mexico to fish for fun
Went the loves of my life, my loving husband, my dearest son.
They had a good time, enjoyed laughter and love on that fateful day
They were to fish until 4, pack things up, and to home be on their way
But the boat's engine failed with alarming speed as the sun began to set
Seven and eight feet waves for almost fifteen hours was to face them yet.
It was dark, no stars or moon, to serve as guiding light
At midnight, my love drew his last breath, my son held his lifeless body tight
As James, Lee, and Todd held on, their strength and brave hearts cried
Oh God in heaven help us, Mr. Fred has died.
With the rise of the sun on that Saturday morn, 2 bodies they had found
James' body the Coast Guard air lifted away as young Todd's body just sank down
Why me, Oh God, James did say, "I have no children like Todd and my brother Lee,
Why did you choose to take them away and choose to leave only me?"
A father's strength and warm embrace their precious children will never know
Their eyes will not see their children's milestones or even watch as they grow
That EASTER weekend changed so many lives in 1993
James Landry lived to tell what happened, but to Heaven went Fred, Todd, and Lee Lee.
When Jesus reached over the portals of Heaven, they were ready to go
Into their Heavenly Father's embrace, the one who loves them so
So do not be upset if every now and then you see us shed a tear
We are only mourning the loss of the ones that we all love so dear.
We know that we will see them again some day, even though all things we don't understand
All things will be clear on heaven's sweet shore, where we'll again, walk hand in hand.

More precious than rubies
Or the merchandise of fine gold
Even ere we grow old
Enraptured heart to think
Our love, whether burn low or glow
Sings notes that make up the score of
Life's greatest symphony
And caresses God's loftiest sound

Hawaii 2002 **Background**
I was in Hawaii on October 17, 2001, shortly after 911, and like Jacob of old in
the Old Testament, I wrestled with the pain of loosing family members--- in
the Gulf Of Mexico.
Jacob lost his family, his own fault, due to treachery. He never saw his mother again.
But loosing a family is to have your "roots" uprooted, regardless of how you lose
them. To me, it would be worse to loose anyone, due to my own fault.
My family fought the good fight of faith un till they were weary of huge waves all night
long. My husband, Fred Burdette, Todd Burdette, my son, and Todd's brother in law,
Lee Lee Landry, went home to be with Jesus. James Landry lived to tell what happened.
That is when writing poetry began for me as a means to "get some of the hurt out."
Intensity is one of the first four poems I wrote in Hawaii
